Self-Pay & Fees

We also welcome self-pay clients who are uninsured or choose not to use insurance, at a rate of $150 per session. Before your first appointment, you have the right to request a Good Faith Estimate of expected costs — see below for details.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Do all therapists at Composure Counseling accept the same insurance?

What is a Good Faith Estimate?

A Good Faith Estimate is a written estimate of expected charges for your care, which federal law requires healthcare providers to give to clients who are uninsured or not using insurance. It must be provided before you schedule a service, and if your final bill is at least $400 more than the estimate, you have the right to dispute it.

How do I schedule an appointment at Composure Counseling?

You can book directly through our online scheduling page, or reach out through our contact form and our team will follow up to help match you with the right provider.

What ages do you work with?

We work with adolescents ages 12 and up, as well as adults, across individual, couples, and family therapy. Specific age ranges and areas of focus vary by provider, so visit our Team page to find the best fit.

What conditions do you have experience treating?

Our clinicians have experience with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, substance use, anger and impulse control, eating disorders, OCD, stress management, life transitions, health-related concerns, professional/workplace issues, LGBT issues, and women's issues. Each provider has their own specific areas of focus — see our Team page for details.

What if my therapist isn't a good fit?

Finding the right fit matters for therapy to work well. If you feel your therapist isn't the right match, just let us know and we'll help connect you with another provider on our team.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, are billed at our self-pay rate of $150 for the session.

How do I cancel a session if I'm unable to make it?

You can cancel or reschedule by calling our main office line at 813-934-6460, calling your therapist's direct office line, or cancelling the session directly through our online client portal. Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance to avoid the late cancellation fee.

Can my provider complete FMLA, Workers' Compensation, or other paperwork for me?

Yes. FMLA, Workers' Compensation, and other external documentation requirements are completed by your provider as a self-pay service, with a fee ranging from $100 to $300 depending on the complexity of the document. We generally need to complete 3 to 6 sessions with a client before a clear pattern of behaviors can be documented and articulated for this type of paperwork. We do not provide emotional support animal (ESA) letters.

Can I still have my telehealth session if I'm traveling outside of Florida or out of the country?

We are currently only able to provide treatment services to clients who are physically located within the state of Florida at the time of their session. If you'll be traveling outside of Florida, please notify our office ahead of time so your appointments can be rescheduled for when you return.
